"Robin, don't forget when you pull those record cards to click the right arrow and look at the back side of the card you are missing the physical description of the person. Do this with many records to make sure there's not a page 2 or even a page 3. You don't know how many don't know that the lookup services image more than one page to a record but there can be even more information if you click next page.

I was just working on answering questions on Genealogy! Just Ask! when I went over to Ancestry.com to look for a collection of records for a patron when I saw information on

What a surprise! I did not know my grandfather filled out a U.S. WWII Draft Cards Young Men, 1940-1947. He lived in Gadsden, SC then with his wife, Otis E. Tucker Vance, and they only had one child at the time. He put the town of his birth which I know to be Carlisle. His date of birth is 25 August 1901.
Emory worked at Victory Savings Bank at 1107 Washington St. in Columbia, SC. He put that as his mailing address. The phone number was 24059. Of all the information, it was wonderful to see his signature.

You can see where the Victory Saving Bank is on 919 Washington Street. Before Emory moved to Gadsden, he lived with his wife and child in the Waverly District. Before had any children they both worked downtown. Otis owned the Greenleaf Cafe, another location in the Green Book.
